Over time, all teeth darken. It’s a fact of life. Our teeth are a record of everything we put in our mouths. The foods we eat and the drinks we consume stain our teeth. Blueberries, coffee, green tea – all of these things contribute to darkening of teeth.

While having yellowed teeth doesn’t necessarily mean that your teeth are unhealthy, you might want to make sure their teeth look as healthy as they are. After all, a smile full of pearly whites often looks healthier than darkened, yellowed teeth.

You may be considering over-the-counter teeth whitening solutions. Sometimes these work, but more often their results are inconsistent.

That’s why The Teal Umbrella offers professionally supervised teeth whitening. We set you up with a complete plan to help brighten up your smile.

Our Teeth Whitening Services

At The Teal Umbrella, we use the Spa-Dent® whitening system. This high tech system uses LED lights to kick-start the process in the dentist’s chair. This is often used in combination with our home whitening kits.

Our options are:

  1. Pola In-office whitening
  2. Home whitening
  3. A combination of both

At the Teal Umbrella, we’ll explain the advantages and disadvantages of all the teeth whitening systems to you, ensuring that you’re fully informed before you make a decision.

Pola In-Office Teeth Whitening

The Teal Umbrella offers in office procedure with the Pola Office System.

polaoffice+ is 33% faster than other dentist only products available on the market today. The Pola system is an in office appointment where Dr. Samarrae and team will administer the product to ensure patient safety during the application process.

What to expect at your Pola In-Office Appointment

SMILE! It’s time for your Photo shoot, We begin your appointment by taking a close up photo of your teeth. Why?  We do this to show you how effective and awesome the Pola In office Treatment is and so that you can have before and after photos as well to see the difference in shades.

Dr. Samarrae will use the Pola shade guide to identify your tooth color. She will also use this scale to estimate how many shades whiter you want your tooth. Each type of procedure utilizes a unique application technique to protect your tooth and gums during the process and long term. Some products contain features that actively protect your tooth and gums during the process, and these can be beneficial as they enable you to achieve your desired effect without incurring damage to your tooth or gums.

We will then take impressions for your whitening trays to bring home to continue improving your smile.

Dr. Samarrae will then begin to apply a series of gels and use an ultra violet light to begin the whitening process.  Once she has finished this we will take another photo of your teeth so that you can see the amazing results!

How Long will my appointment be?

The Pola office  treatment on average takes 2 hours to complete in office. It is Pain free and most patients even fall asleep during it!

How long does it last?

Pola Office is sought after by patients for a variety of reasons, one being its long-lasting results. Pola Office is actually one of the fastest and longest-lasting teeth whitening products on the market today. Depending on your oral habits, your teeth can maintain the results for 6 to 12 months! On top of that, touch-ups can be applied as needed to keep your teeth looking their absolute best.

How are the results different than over the counter products?

The kits you buy at the store can take months to whiten your teeth a few shades whiter. With Pola Office, you will notice instant results that can brighten your smile 8 times more than your original shade.

Who can benefit from Pola?

The Pola whitening treatment is perfect for the busy professional who is looking to get immediate results. With the Pola Office system, you can whiten your teeth dramatically in just one sitting.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes, clinical studies have shown that when applied correctly under the supervision of a dentist, this method is 100% safe for your teeth. However, Pola is not recommended for children or those who are pregnant.

Will I experience any side effects?

Pola is a safe, non-painful procedure. The majority of our patients experience no side effects whatsoever. Although the Pola Office+ product uses a neutral pH bleach that inhibits sensitivity, those who suffer from sensitive teeth might experience temporary irritation following the treatment, but this will naturally subside within a few hours.

I have restorations, how will these react?

The whitening can remove existing surface stains on the composite restoration, but it will not change its original colour. If you would like to change your restoration to a brighter white to match your Pola results, let us know and we will discuss all of the options available to you.

How does it differ from the take-home kit?

They contain different amounts of hydrogen peroxide – the in-office treatment offers the highest amount. This produces more powerful and faster results than the take-home kits. The in-office treatment can whiten up to 8 times lighter in one visit, the take-home kit can whiten up to 6 times lighter over a number of days. Why the difference? Dentists have access to higher concentration bleaching agents. The take-home kit is designed to touch up your whitening treatment.
